After 27 years
in the same premises were Having to move out!
Well be
moving out early in 2008 when our currentpremises are scheduled for demolition.
But then well
be moving back in to our brand new purpose built premises which will
provide us with around 40% additional usable space and very much
improved facilities for greater efficiency.
BUSINESS AS USUAL
It will be
business as usual, (albeit from temporary accommodation while the
re-building work is undertaken) with NO CHANGE IN CONTACT DETAILS.
QUALITY ENSURES LOW WHOLE LIFE COSTS
With 27 years
behind us, we have proved without doubt, the importance of quality. A
wise man once said It is not wise to pay to little but it is
foolish to pay too much. All too often, security systems are
purchased on the basis of the lowest possible initial outlay with
little thought given to potential on-going costs or even the
availability and cost of any after sales service or the ability of
the supplier to sort out any problems. Many companies are solely
interested in the initial sale, when the problems start they close
down and start up under another name. Others have a premium rate
number to ring so it can cost dearly just to report a problem.
Our commitment is
to providing the most economically advantageous systems, particularly
when due consideration is given to whole life costs. If a customer is
experiencing difficulties they can call us for advice and if
necessary, they can speak to an engineer. If one is not available at
that moment, we will call them back. All too often, service calls are
made which are not needed. All calls cost money, it can be a nice
little earner for the security company.
INTRUDER ALARM MAINTENANCE
Maintenance is
neccessary for an Intruder Alarm System to retain its 'approved'
status which is increasingly an insurance requirement. The cost of
maintenance and the type of cover offered can vary dramatically. For
most types of systems we install, we offer fully comprehensive cover
which includes call-outs, parts and labour. In effect it is an
extended onsite warranty.
We could not offer
this cover if our systems were not reliable. Full details including
terms and conditions and the costs involved are given with each
quotation we provide.
Alternatively we
offer basic maintenance cover to meet the need for insurance.
INTRUDER ALARM STANDARDS
Working to the
standards laid out for intruder alarms can be quite a headache.
British Standard BS4737 was superseded two years ago with a temporary
UK version of new European standards known as PD662. This was then to
be developed into an acceptable European Standard within a year. It
comes as no real surprise that the introduction of the European
standard has now been postponed indefinitely with PD662 continuing to
be applied to new systems.
VIEW
YOUR OWN CCTV IMAGES OVER THE INTERNET
You can view your
very own CCTV images over the internet. You can view live pictures or
you can view images which were previously recorded while current
images are still being recorded. You can select which camera you wish
to view and you can control moveable cameras at will. All you need is
a broadband connection with a static IP address to connect the DVR
to. The software is provide to load to your PC or Lap Top so you can
view from any broadband connection.
WHITE LED LIGHTING FOR CCTV
White light long
range LED illuminators have now been developed for the professional
CCTV sector which allow colour cameras to function at night. The use
of LEDs allows low voltage, very low consumption lighting to be
economically specified. Whereas there is a higher initial outlay, the
low power consumption and the long lamp life contribute to a low
whole life cost.
THE LEGALITY OF ELECTRIC
SECURITY FENCES
Some in the
security industry who do not understand or who are not able to supply
electrified security fences falsely claim that they are dangerous and
illegal. Likewise, some insurers who are not familiar with them shy
away when they are suggested as a legitimate means of solving a
security problem.

PulseSecureTM
Perimiter Security Systems are both an Electric fence

for yards and compounds.
THE IMPORTANCE
OF PICTURE QUALITY
The main purpose
of CCTV is to provide visual evidence of an incident and where
possible, positive identification of a person or vehicle to assist in
a prosecution. Guidelines published by the Home Office emphasise the
need for high quality images but all too often sacrifices are made to
cost or gimmicks which render the systems as not fit for purpose. In
terms of best value for money, the most expensive system you can buy
is the system which proves to be totally inadequate. It is very
frustrating to be told that your images are not good enough and to
see the known offender laughing in your face. Picture quality is
governed by the quality and performance of the camera, the type and
set up of the recording device and the monitor.
FIRE SAFETY
Fire safety is now
enforced by Local Authorities, not the Fire Service. It is the
responsibility of (in most cases) of the occupier of the premises to
ensure that a firesafety risk assessment is carried out. The main
objective is the safety of persons working or sleeping.
Fire alarms are
often required to provide an early warning to those who might
otherwise not be aware of the fire. Basic fire alarms are operated
manually. Smoke and heat detectors can be added to provide automatic
fire detection with a particular emphasis on escape routes and
potential sources of fire.
